Neuromodulators Treatments:
Botox™, Dysport™, Xeomin™ or Jeuveau™
Neuromodulator treatments are the most popular single cosmetic procedure in the U.S. and are mainly used to smooth dynamic wrinkles, or those wrinkles that form as a result of facial movements like frowning, squinting, smiling, and other expressions we tend to make day after day. Treatment works by blocking nerve impulses to the muscles, causing them to relax. As a result, your expressions soften and the dynamic wrinkles are greatly reduced. Most appointments take about 30 minutes to compete.
Frequently asked questions
regarding neuromodulator injections:
-
What is the difference between BOTOX,
Jeuveau and DYSPORT?
All three products originate from the same source, clostridium botulinum. There are slight molecular differences between the three and different protein derivatives to carry the toxin, but all products produce the same result, temporary paralysis of the targeted muscle resulting in diminished dynamic wrinkles. Due to this protein, antibodies can be formed and individual results may vary resulting in a preference of one product over another. I have all products available and have no preference of one product over another from an injection perspective. All products essentially cost the same. All three manufacturers offer a discount/loyalty program if you wish to enroll.
-
What areas are usually treated?
Most popular areas treated are the glabellar region (11’s/frown lines), forehead and crows feet. In addition, one can achieve a temporary brow lift, treat bunny lines on the nose, smokers lines around the mouth, gummy smiles, TMJ, excessive sweating, and migraines.
-
How long do results last?
With Botox, Jeuveau and Dysport, results generally last 3-4 months. Results vary depending on the area treated.
-
When will I see results from the injection?
Dysport and Jeuveau tend to work quicker with results being seen in as little as 3-4 days with full results at 10-14 days. Botox tends to take a bit longer, some results at day 7 but full results at 14 days.
-
Is there more “spread” with the Dysport as compared to Botox?
I have not noticed that in my practice.
-
Do Botox, Dysport, or Jeuveau injections hurt?
Yes, the injection can burn slightly but its very temporary and lasts only seconds.
-
Are Neuromodulator injections only for women? Absolutely not!
Many men enjoy looking younger as well!
-
Can neuromodulator injections “prevent” wrinkles if started early?
Neuromodulator injections can prevent dynamic wrinkles from turning into static wrinkles (wrinkles that don’t go away when our face isn’t moving) if started early. When the appearance of the lines start to bother you, you should discuss options available.
-
How long does the injections take?
First time clients will take just a bit longer due to paperwork and discussion regarding your goals. First time injections, plan for 30-45 minutes, 15-20 minutes for future appointments if only receiving neuromodulator injections.
