PDO Threads

PDO (polydioxanone) is a strong synthetic monofilament fiber consisting of one solid fiber of thread. It absorbs in 4-6 months depending on the thickness of the thread.  Polydioxanone is a safe, non-toxic suture used for over 30 years for multiple types of surgical procedures/closures.

PDO threads are highly flexible and durable. PDO threading demonstrates visible signs of rejuvenation through hydrolysis, or absorption of the material, thus stimulating and producing collagen through this process. Total thread absorption occurs within 180 days from time of implantation. Healing from the trauma and absorption of the threads causes neo-collagenesis of the skin.  This process strengthens connective tissue and builds collagen, smoothing wrinkles, filling in scars and improving texture of skin.

Barbed threads reapproximate tissue in a lifted position producing mild lifting of skin that can be seen immediately.  Full effect can take up to 180 days and can last for up to 2 years.

Smooth threads help to resurface and restructure the skin smoothing wrinkles and narrowing pores.  Smooth threads generally dissolve in 3 months.

Tissue changes monthly and skin improves over a 4–6-month period of time.  Initial results can be seen in 4-6 weeks with final results at 12-24 months depending on patient’s age and metabolic activity of skin and cells.  Procedure generally an hour or less depending on the area(s) being treated.  Recovery time is quick, less than a week and side effects mild.  Post procedure you can expect mild swelling, possible redness, mild soreness, and bruising can occur.
